Several years ago, I read an article that identified the six activities of people who "flourish" as: helping others; interacting with others; being intentional about playing, learning, and exercise; and engaging in some kind of spiritual practice. As I sit with my Sabbath page open at the beginning of the week, I make notes - How will I be serving / volunteering this week? With whom will I play? From what book will I learn? I begin each morning of the week in prayer (using the BCP readings as a guide), and then I record the six activities, triple-spaced, in the lined part of the planner. Each evening, I record in the ways I "flourished" that day by writing down how I helped, with whom I interacted, etc. When the Sabbath arrives again, I reflect on how I "flourished" (and failed to) during the past week, and I reset by making notes about how I will "flourish" in the week ahead.
This is my second year using the daily planner. I currently use mine for planning out Bible study, for writing down things I am praying for and practicing a memory verse. This helps me focus on what is truly important for the day and for God's plans, not my own.
This is such a thoughtfully designed resource. The focus on honoring rest and Sabbath has been particularly helpful. I also appreciate the ideas for more intentionally following the liturgical year.
Literally the coolest planner. Space to write homework, goals, reflections, and so much more. Very in depth information on each season of the Christian year. Starting and ending the day with the daily office is so inspiring. Highly recommend!!
This is the second liturgical planner I've used from SOD and it's such an essential tool for developing more meaningful and life-giving rhythms in days, my weeks, my months. Thank you Jenn & team!
So often I would live my life out of my email inbox, letting everyone else’s priorities run my day with no sense of what God was really inviting me into. I am only a few weeks into this, and already I am giving myself permission to limit the amount that I try to accomplish each day and give myself permission to rest and delight in the life God intends for me.
I am lovely my planner. It is helping me build better margins in my life and balance between my chores & my hobbies. This is my first time buying this planning & I *plan* to do so again at the end of 2021!
I am really loving this planner! The daily office readings, as well as the Sabbath Days and Weekly Examens are exactly what I need to slow down from the crazy frenetic pace of my life.
This planner has enabled me to finally have some discipline around my quiet time and bible readings each day. I love the Sabbath pages in particular as they remind me that rest is vital to my wellbeing and part of my spiritual discipline. I have tried so many different tools and am so grateful to have finally found this planner. I feel so much more connected to the liturgical seasons and am enjoying building in the seasonal reflections into my daily life. I found the Rule of Life section at the front of the planner to be extremely helpful in centering my life back on God and what matters most. I can't recommend this planner highly enough. I have used the digital version and paper version and both are wonderful.
This is my first year following the liturgical calendar and so far I am loving it. I am really appreciating the focus on seasons and the feel of community it gives to people using either the liturgical calendar in general or the planners specifically. I chose the Ember daily planner and the extra pop of color is a welcome sight on my bedside table. Thank you for making this practice so accessible!
I just bought my 4th SOD planner. I use the academic year since I'm in seminary. The weekly layout helps me keep track of assignments and the liturgical features help me stay present and grounded. The combined planner and liturgy remind me that my work is my worship too. My SOD planner helps form me and give rhythm to my days.
I am so happy to have this planner. I was unsure about spending the money, since I don't have nearly as many events or thing to plan as I did before the pandemic, but the beauty of this planner is that it is more than just a place to jot times and dates. I use the small daily spaces to often joy down a thought or a prayer. I use this planner to write down what I'm learning from God. I keep track of friend's birthdays, I am keeping a reading list, etc. The cover is gorgeous, and I love how pretty it is.
This planner/journaling system has become a daily practice that keeps me grounded in spirit and continuously seeking god's guidance over my life and I can't emphasize what a blessing this has been. You will not be sorry if you decide to try it and persist until it becomes a deeply connected habit.
After much contemplation, I finally purchased my first liturgical planner after wanting one for quite some time! And I love it! The Weekly Planner allows me a glance at the week while also incorporating guides for my spiritual walk & rhythms of grace. I love the attention to the liturgical calendar cycle & the prompts for Sabbath & examen. While this planner allows me to jot down key things to remember fro each day, it also serves as a journal space, combining work with rest. I selected the Glowing Ember Red cover because it sparks a sense of joy & motivation. Thank you for creating such a beautiful & useful tool!
I had the honor of previewing the new weekly layout and giving some feedback. I appreciate both the daily and weekly layouts, but the weekly is by far my favorite. Honestly, having used the weekly in previous years, it didn't need any alterations to be wonderful. But what Julie and the team have done with this has made a good thing even better! The Rule of Life section alone nearly makes the purchase worthwhile. How they've approached the weekly Examen spread is thoughtful and appropriate. There is just enough guidance throughout the days/sections to be helpful, but then the team gave themselves permission to step back and let us ponder and let the Spirit lead us to use these wonderful pages in ways that speaks to us personally. I'm thinking of the Sabbath white space and the bulleted priority lists. It's so clear that this was put together with prayer and intention. The weekly spreads are functional for planning out your days/weeks. The included quotes are wonderful for pondering and learning. I just can't recommend this planner enough. I'm so grateful for these folks. They are filling a space that needed to be filled. This will be my 3rd year using this planner, and each year it just gets better. Thanks y'all!
I have recently been using the Book of Common Prayer as part of my daily rhythm and am happy that I now have a planner to work alongside it. As a stay at home mom, I love having the weekly format as it seems less daunting to me than keeping up with a daily planner. I usually use Sunday as my day to rest, reflect and plan ahead, so the Monday start day is perfect for me. The size and weight are great for taking with me when I need to and fit perfectly in the kitchen drawer that is my command station. 😊 The only difficult thing is choosing just one of the beautiful covers.
This isn’t just a planner that will help me organize my day, it is a planner that will help me create a rhythm of life that will be a source of steadiness and comfort in a rapidly changing and unsteady world. It is such a gift!
I am so excited that this resource is coming back! I used the weekly planner in the past and I love that it served as a way to orient my weekly planning while allowing a lot of freedom to incorporate other resources into my planning/journaling/bible reading. I love that Sacred Ordinary Days sets up the planner to be a touchstone and a starting point whenever you come back to it, and I love that the weekly version provides many of the same resources as the daily planner, but the simpler format was so helpful to me in not getting lost or overwhelmed in the way I did for the daily planner. I especially loved the examen pages, and learning to practice this new-to-me routine.
I'm also excited for the smaller, slimmer version of this year's planner and the beautiful cover options! I am also loving the change to start with Monday - I've recently changed all calendars in my life to this orientation (when possible) to remind me of the way that God oriented the week - 6 days of work followed by a rest.
I can't tell you how many planners I've used over the years.
This is the first one that worked well with my pattern as a pastor, as well as supported my individual spirituality.
The weekly exam is a welcome rest from a busy schedule and serves to help connect my heart with God and focus for a new week.
The weekly quotes offer insight and inspiration.
The space to identify priorities has revolutionized the way I think about my work days and my days off.
The Sabbath pages are a GIFT. Full of white space, this page welcomes creativity and ease.
I am SO grateful for this planner, and am content to be a loyal customer for as long as these planners are available.
I was thrilled and blessed to be among those who got a sneak peek at the new weekly planner and had an opportunity to give feedback on the design. The various components of the planner help keep God at the center and life from being too overwhelming. I am a weekly planner user, as I like to see my whole week laid out before me; otherwise I have a tendency to miss things I need to do! I have been looking at the Sacred Ordinary Days planners for a couple of years, and now is my chance to finally see how this can bring more rhythm to my days with the weekly option now available. Thanks for all the hard work that has gone into making this wonderful resource.
I have been using this planner more as a journal and a bible reading prompt in 2020. It has really made a difference in the way my day starts. Loving it!
And excellent resource for private devotional time and time with family and friends. I love looking through it before any major event and particularly enjoy the litergy for enjoying coffee in the morning. Even if there is no "quiet of morning" in my house with 4 children it helps to quiet my mind to focus on my time with God.
This book would make an excellent gift for many, but I also have enjoyed just the beauty it possesses in imagery and words.
An incredibly beautiful book. The gold embossing, the illustrations, the acknowledgement of such ordinary holiness is wonderful! I would say that some liturgies went on a little bit, but I liked that some of them also had shorter versions to choose from. I think I may annoy my friends when I show up with a liturgy for EVERY occasion, but hopefully in the long run they'll thank me 🤪.
I have the liturgy for morning coffee print, and it is such a lovely thing to see every morning. I had a spare frame that I put it in, and you can see it is clearly high quality (even without the frame). Highly recommend these prints for anyone who might need a little mindfulness in the "everyday" parts of life!
This looks very nice and is well made. Framed and hung it fits in with a lot of different styles.
Sent to welcome a new baby. It was a hit!
I have HOLY WEEK, PSALMS OF PRAISE and JESUS HEALS. As a volunteer leader in children's ministry I am always looking for resources and I LOVE to share books with children. I love the simple language and beautiful bright pictures and board books are so sturdy!
Holy Week is so beautiful for adults and children alike to reflect on the tumultuous mix of emotions surrounding the last week of Jesus' life as we re-live this to some extent each year. Children understand big emotions and it's so wonderful to know Jesus does too.
I love that Jesus Heals talks about healing while teaching about bodies, and Psalms of Praise is a great one to practice actions with.
