ABOUT THE CREATOR
Muscadine Press is a Christian ministry devoted to equipping and empowering the people of God to cultivate a faithful life. We launched in 2015 as a branch of founder Leslie Ann Jones' writing and teaching ministry. Leslie Ann had been designing custom stationery on the side for quite some time and really enjoyed the work, but she felt the Lord leading her in a new direction: one that combined her love for pretty paper with her passion for the Word of God. So she closed up her stationery shop and set out to design a line of faith-based products designed to help people draw near to the Lord. She started with the Dwell Journal, moved on to art prints, and eventually added a line of stationery. In 2017, she began to feel the Lord leading her to yet another transition: a new name for the LAJ Shop. After months of hard work and navigating all the little details that go into such a big change, we re-launched as Muscadine Press in 2018.

Gifts of God for the People of God: Exploring Worship in the Episcopal Church by Furman L. Buchanan
Worship can be a powerful way to encounter the living God. Our stories intersect with God's story as the gifts of God are celebrated and shared by the people of God. In Gifts of God for the People of God, Episcopal priest Furman L. Buchanan explores and reflects on each element of Holy Eucharist, the service most often held on Sunday mornings. Moving from the first spoken word of the service—"Blessed"—to the last phrase—"Thanks be to God"—Buchanan explains the theological and scriptural elements of the service, helping newcomers and longtime members alike gain a deeper understanding of this gift of God.
Buchanan also shares his own stories, connecting pivotal life experiences with the words and actions of Holy Eucharist. Thoughtful questions at the end of each chapter invite readers to reflect on their own stories and how they connect with God's story of love and life.

PRAISE
"In The Gifts of God for the People of God, Furman Buchanan has given the Church a practical, theological, and devotional roadmap to the Eucharist. This book is accessible enough for people who are exploring their faith, and offers deep insight as we grow in our understanding of our worship. I am grateful for this work as a tool for evangelism, formation, and worship in the Episcopal Church."
— The Rev. Canon Alan D. Bentrup, Canon for Evangelism and Mission, Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina
"The Eucharist has captured minds of the religious and secular alike for two millennia. Whether one encounters its rhythm weekly, every Christmas and Easter, or just in the occasional movie plot, its place in Western Civilization cannot be overstated. And yet, for most, it remains a mystery to be observed and not unpacked for application to daily life. In this book, Furman Buchanan not only reveals the mechanics of the sacred meal, he narratively invites the reader into exploration, taking us off the normal map of churchy-overstatement and into the gifts of God for the people of God in everyday life. He mixes the knowledge of a seasoned Episcopal priest with the vulnerable journey of human life. It’s a grand read for those who believe or try to believe."
— The Rev. Michael Sullivan, President & CEO of Kanuga
"From a deeply grounded engagement with the Eucharist, Furman Buchanan weaves his own experiences of his life in faith. These experiences help highlight the ways in which the Eucharist is made relevant in our daily life with Christ."
— The Rev. Canon James Hartley, Canon for Christian Formation, Congregational Vitality, and Missional Communities, Diocese of Upper South Carolina
"In Gifts of God for the People of God, Furman Buchanan weaves together teaching and storytelling to create a wonderful introduction or refresher to Episcopal liturgy. He breaks down each of the elements of our worship in accessible language. The reflection questions at the end of each section welcome individuals or groups to dive deeper into their own place in the service. I look forward to sharing this with congregations."
— Andrea McKellar, Episcopal Church in South Carolina
"Remarkably accessible for anyone. Joyfully challenging for everyone."
— The Rev. Deacon Ann Pilat, Deacon for Hispanic Ministries, Episcopal Diocese of Upper S.C.

For the Beauty of the Church: Casting a Vision for the Arts edited by W. David O. Taylor
Once upon a time, the church was deeply involved in the arts, leading the way in beauty, technical ability, and even funding. In many churches today the arts are an afterthought at best and forbidden at worst. This insightful book, For the Beauty of the Church: Casting a Vision for the Arts, takes you beyond "how we've always done it," beyond fads, beyond mere imitation of the culture, and beyond utilitarianism to develop a robust, dynamic, and substantive vision for the place of the arts - and artists - in our churches.

PRAISE
"The called out, multi-gifted, and working church ought to be synonymous with all good gifts and stewardship of the earth. And it most certainly ought to be synonymous with the stewardship of the arts. For the Beauty of the Church reminds us of this essential truth and many more."
― Charlie Peacock, co-director, Art House America; author of New Way to Be Human
"Pragmatic and theologically astute at the same time, For the Beauty of the Church is a gem-packed collection for those navigating between the realms of the arts and the church. David Taylor is one of the leading pastors in the church's effort to reach out to artists. I am delighted that he has brought together these important and lucid voices for our edification."
― Makoto Fujimura, artist; founder and creative director, International Arts Movement
"One reason the church exists is that our hunger for beauty will not go away. These essays remind us why. The splendid chapter by Barbara Nicolosi is worth the price of the book itself."
― John Ortberg, author, pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church
"This book is an urgently needed wake-up call for the church! Why have we failed so badly to honor, support, nurture, respectfully critique, and listen to the artists among us? I pray that this book will encourage more artists and churches to offer each other their respective gifts."
― Marva J. Dawn, author of In the Beginning, God and A Royal "Waste" of Time; teaching fellow in spiritual theology, Regent College, Vancouver
"Be enriched and encouraged as you read the words in this book, sharing its vitality with others in your communities of faith."
― Luci Shaw, from the foreword
"This book is encouraging, celebrative, and hopeful, but it is also explosive. David Taylor and his friends want very simply to make worship come alive. This conversation is critical not only for its practical suggestions about the arts but also its bracing theological framework that will help make artistic and spiritual worship the transforming experience God intends it to be."
― William Dyrness, professor of theology and culture, Fuller Theological Seminary

Glimpses of the New Creation: Worship and the Formative Power of the Arts by W. David O. Taylor
How do the arts in worship form individuals and communities?
Every choice of art in worship opens up and closes down possibilities for the formation of our humanity. Every practice of music, every decision about language, every use of our bodies, every approach to visual media or church buildings forms our desires, shapes our imaginations, habituates our emotional instincts, and reconfigures our identity as Christians in contextually meaningful ways, generating thereby a sense of the triune God and of our place in the world.
Glimpses of the New Creation argues that the arts form us in worship by bringing us into intentional and intensive participation in the aesthetic aspect of our humanity—that is, our physical, emotional, imaginative, and metaphorical capacities. In so doing they invite the people of God to be conformed to Christ and to participate in the praise of Christ and in the praise of creation, which by the Spirit’s power raises its peculiar voice to the Father in heaven, for the sake of the world that God so loves.

You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit by James K. A. Smith
You are what you love. But you might not love what you think.
In You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit, award-winning author James K. A. Smith shows that who and what we worship fundamentally shapes our hearts. And while we desire to shape culture, we are not often aware of how culture shapes us. We might not realize the ways our hearts are being taught to love rival gods instead of the One for whom we were made. Smith helps readers recognize the formative power of culture and the transformative possibilities of Christian practices. He explains that worship is the "imagination station" that incubates our loves and longings so that our cultural endeavors are indexed toward God and his kingdom. This is why the church and worshiping in a local community of believers should be the hub and heart of Christian formation and discipleship.
Following the publication of his influential work Desiring the Kingdom, Smith received numerous requests from pastors and leaders for a more accessible version of that book's content. No mere abridgment, this new book draws on years of Smith's popular presentations on the ideas in Desiring the Kingdom to offer a fresh, bottom-up rearticulation. The author creatively uses film, literature, and music illustrations to engage readers and includes new material on marriage, family, youth ministry, and faith and work. He also suggests individual and communal practices for shaping the Christian life.

PRAISE
Christianity Today Book Award Winner
Martin Institute and Dallas Willard Center Book Award
"Smith has an exceptional gift for disentangling things. Here again his efforts disentangle our minds and our hearts so our imaginations can be set free to be captured by and reflective of the kingdom of God. In these ways, Smith gives us a profound gift so we can seek and find what we need most."
— Mark Labberton, President, Fuller Theological Seminary
"Attention, all 'general readers'—not academics or specialists (though they're welcome too), but people who are tired of shoddy thinking and trendy slogans: this is the kind of book you've been hungering for. It's a bit like one of those 'Great Courses.' An inspired teacher, a compelling subject, and you. What are you waiting for?"
— John Wilson, editor, Books & Culture
"Informed by the insights of St. Augustine, You Are What You Love explores the substance of Christian discipleship as total life transformation through worship and liturgy. More than any other contemporary writer, Smith has helped me to understand how belief is embodied in us primarily through our habits of desire, and that God himself is the true satisfaction of our hungry hearts. This book should be read by every follower of Jesus."
— Sandra McCracken, singer and songwriter
"Jamie Smith writes with enormous understanding, authority, and warmth. Masterful!"
— Cornelius Plantinga Jr., president emeritus, Calvin Theological Seminary; author of Reading for Preaching: The Preacher in Conversation with Storytellers, Biographers, Poets, and Journalists
"A user-friendly introduction to the sweeping Augustinian insight that we are shaped most by what we love most, more so than by what we think or do. If sin and virtue are disordered and rightly ordered love, respectively, and if the only way to change is to change what we worship, then this will lead us to rethink how we conduct Christian work and ministry. Jamie gives some foundational ideas on how this affects our corporate worship, our Christian education and formation, and our vocations in the world. An important, provocative volume!"
— Tim Keller, Founding Pastor, Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City
"What do you love? is the most important question of our lives. With his characteristic ease, energy, and insightfulness, Smith explores in this compelling book not only what it is that we should love but also how we can learn to love what we should."
— Miroslav Volf, Yale Divinity School; author of A Public Faith and Flourishing: Why We Need Religion in a Globalized World
"In this wise and provocative book, Jamie Smith has the audacity to ask the question: Do we love what we think we love? It is not a comfortable question if we strive to answer it honestly. Smith presses us to do so and then shows us the renewed and abundant life that awaits Christians whose habits and practices--whose liturgies of living--work to open our hearts to our God and our neighbors."
— Alan Jacobs, Honors College, Baylor University
"Desiring the Kingdom influenced me more than any single book of the past decade. I--and the rest of the church--owe a great debt to Smith's scholarship, now made particularly accessible in You Are What You Love. As a means for reimagining the task of discipleship, this book should be required reading for every pastor, lay leader, and parent."
— Jen Pollock Michel, author of Christianity Today's 2015 Book of the Year, Teach Us to Want

Cultural Liturgies, 3-Volume Boxed Set by James K. A. Smith
This boxed set includes all three volumes from James K. A. Smith's highly acclaimed Cultural Liturgies series: Desiring the Kingdom, Imagining the Kingdom, and Awaiting the King.
In Desiring the Kingdom (winner of a Christianity Today Book Award), Smith casts a new vision for worldview through the lens of Christian liturgy, re-visioning education through the process and practice of worship.
Imagining the Kingdom shows how worship works in shaping us through liturgical practices. Smith helps us understand and appreciate the bodily basis of habit formation and how liturgical formation--both "secular" and Christian--affects our fundamental orientation to the world.
Awaiting the King explores the religious nature of politics and the political nature of Christian worship, sketching how the worship of the church propels us to be invested in forging the common good.

One: Unity in a Divided World by Deidra Riggs
Our world needs fewer walls and more bridges. Be a bridge builder.
Our world is marked by disagreements and division, and sadly, so are many of our churches. But Jesus said we would be known by our love, not our hate. How do we begin to unify amidst varying opinions, preferences, and political leanings?
In One: Unity in a Divided World, author Deidra Riggs offers words of hope for the family, the church, and our communities. Riggs offers stories as examples of bridge-building in the midst of a world torn apart. Readers find inspiration, encouragement, and hope for unity.
Jesus didn't say the world would know we are his followers by our rhetoric, our political leanings, our charity work, or even by our knowledge of Scripture. He said the world would know us by our love for one another. Yet it's so easy to put others at arm's length, to lash out, to put up walls.
Deidra Riggs calls us to put our focus on self-preservation aside and, like Jesus, make the first move toward reconciliation. She helps us understand that we are secure in God's inexhaustible love, making us free to love others lavishly--not just in what we do but in what we say, what we don't say, what we will endure, and what we will forgive.

Beeswax Advent Pillar Candles from The Cottage Stillroom
Since the Middle Ages, beeswax candles have been treasured for their clear flame and honey-sweet smell. Let this gracious light bless your home or church this Advent with a set of Beeswax Advent Pillar Candles from The Cottage Stillroom.
Hand-poured in the Virginia workshop of Aline Bowles, these candles will illuminate a beautiful, hopeful Advent. These handsome pillars would make a gorgeous display a table, hearth, or altar Advent wreath.
Each set include five taper candles (three purple, one rose, and one cream). Pillars are available in 6" or 12" heights. All pillars are 1.5" in diameter.
Note: Over time, pure beeswax products may develop a whitish "bloom." This bloom does not affect the way a candle burns and is simply a natural process of the softer oils of the beeswax rising to the outside surface. Many people like the appearance of the bloom, but if you prefer, you can clean it from your candle with hosiery or a soft cloth.
Dimensions: 1.5 x 6 inches or 1.5 x 12 inches
Shipping Weight:
6-inch Set (5 candles) 1.87 pounds
12-inch Set (5 candles) 3.75 pounds
ABOUT THE CREATOR
The Cottage Stillroom began in 1981 when Aline Bowles was introduced to the centuries-old craft of hand-pouring beeswax into tin "tube and funnel" molds. There was an immediate bonding with the art form of the age-old French processes and the use of that wonderful substance. Aline felt heart-ties with this art form that soon resulted in the formation of the business she now owns and operates. The kindly affection she had for the old techniques experienced early in her exploration has not been diminished over the years. It is her conviction that there is much to be preserved and shared with others of the quality found in hand-producing a product of quality using completely natural raw materials. That is the driving force behind much of what goes on at The Cottage Stillroom today.

International customers may also be charged an additional tariff fee when retrieving their packages from post offices. We are unable to include it in the cost of your item and shipping currently. We understand international shipping is a bit more expensive. We hope to have more international options as our volume increases, but in the meantime placing a group order with your friends will reduce the international cost and give you a group discount!
How quickly will my order ship?
Digital products are automatically sent by email shortly after you place your order. Physical products are shipped from our warehouse in Waco, TX every weekday afternoon. You'll receive an email with tracking information when your order is shipped.
Can I change my shipping address, email or payment info?
Because our orders ship daily, we may not be able to change your information before your order is processed and shipped. For that reason, please verify your shipping address at checkout before submitting your order. If you find an error, contact us as soon as possible and we will try our hardest to make corrections before the order goes out. We try to check email for any shipping-related updates before printing labels.
What is your return policy?
We do our best to describe and depict each product with great care and detail. For that reason we created the FREE Essentials Workbook to give you a closer look at the design of our planner. The Essentials Workbook will help you evaluate if our product is a good fit for you before you spend any money. You can often purchase digital sample months of the planners to try before you buy. Our planner isn't a perfect fit for everyone, though. We haven't set out to be. It's not possible! That said, let us know if you find an issue and we will do our best to make it right.
If your physical product is damaged or defective, or you receive the wrong product, please contact us with your name, order number, and nature of the issue at hello@sacredordinarydays.com and we will address your concern as quickly as possible.
