I use this daily. Much like a rubbing stone, it has come into my hands as a way to calm myself, find patience, seek love for my kids and really just restructure my behaviors and anxieties. I have 4-5 around the house and I keep one in my purse. My kids also use them when they are struggling.
The ability to reach out and touch something, hold something, aids in refocusing and breathing deeply.
I leave this little cross in my pocket, and it helps me to refocus my day. Any time I slip my hand in my pocket, I am reminded to recenter my thoughts and actions on God. It is small enough to fit in your pocket and the shape and smoothness makes it easy to hold.
I love using this cross as a fidget tool when having conversations with young people who engage so much better when their hands are busy. It is beautifully carved and I love the faint scent of olive.
I wasn't expecting much, it's just a wooden cross, but I thought it would be neat to place on a side table as a sort of curiosity. But I found that sometimes when I am especially worried or contemplative, I enjoy picking it up to hold and touch while I'm praying. I can fidget with it as I form my prayer and it provides a sense of comfort that as I am turning it over in my hands, I am literally turning it over to god with my prayer, and that he understands my worry and participates in the solution with me. One of those purchases you love way more than you knew you needed. Yay!!
This is an incredible resource that includes a diverse collection of art, poetry, music...all connected to scripture and the church calendar. I have already thought of several people I plan to gift with this inspiring volume.
I have the liturgy for morning coffee print, and it is such a lovely thing to see every morning. I had a spare frame that I put it in, and you can see it is clearly high quality (even without the frame). Highly recommend these prints for anyone who might need a little mindfulness in the "everyday" parts of life!
This looks very nice and is well made. Framed and hung it fits in with a lot of different styles.
Giving to two of my wonderful students for graduation with notations for favorite prayers.
This is a lovely book - the liturgies are poetic and there are so many different prayers for all different occasions. I got this to give as a gift but ended up looking through it myself before giving it and am tempted to buy myself a copy as well! I opted for the smaller size and really like it - the pages feel nice, the soft cover gives without feeling flimsy, and as weird as it may sound it's just a pleasant experience holding the book.
Sent to welcome a new baby. It was a hit!
I have HOLY WEEK, PSALMS OF PRAISE and JESUS HEALS. As a volunteer leader in children's ministry I am always looking for resources and I LOVE to share books with children. I love the simple language and beautiful bright pictures and board books are so sturdy!
Holy Week is so beautiful for adults and children alike to reflect on the tumultuous mix of emotions surrounding the last week of Jesus' life as we re-live this to some extent each year. Children understand big emotions and it's so wonderful to know Jesus does too.
I love that Jesus Heals talks about healing while teaching about bodies, and Psalms of Praise is a great one to practice actions with.
This little book is the perfect guide to more intentional prayer throughout the day. A wonderful resource!
I bought this for a friend who uses her phone, and she is having difficulty using the PDF planner. Here is an excerpt from her email to me.
“Unfortunately, the digital version of the planner has frustrated me to the point of elevated blood pressure. It’s painfully small to read on my phone, won’t sync in the Kindle app to my Kindle Fire, and apparently counts every time I have even looked at it as a download (only 5 allowed). I sent a query to Customer Service the day I received. They have never answered but are happy to keep the promo emails coming ;-)
I did download the planner to my desktop where the viewing is larger, but I rarely use that format because of the strain on my bad eye. The PDF is not interactive so pages have to be printed in order to add personal data.”
I downloaded this pdf and got it printed and spiral bound at Staples because I couldn't wait for the journal I purchased to get here, much less wait til the end of November to start! I really need a livable way to incorporate prayer and scripture into my day as a working mom and even after my first two entries, and this is it. I have always been a planner and journaler, and to have both functionalities in the same elegant and thoughtful book is so helpful and refreshing. I'm looking forward to getting off my phone more since I have the lectionary readings and day planner in print, keeping me away from the tempting apps that await me when I open my calendar or web browser to look up the scripture of the day and my events.
Cannot wait to continue this new practice in the coming year!!
I have been a SOD user from the kickstarter days, and I have used both the paper and digital versions. When I needed an Ipad and apple pencil for work, I decided to try the digital version of the planner. I use the GoodNotes app and open the PDF file there. I can write, highlight, add pages between SOD pages for notes / planning, bookmark pages, add calendars to an outline, etc. It is easy for me to carry with me everywhere I go.
My practice is to wake up early - before the husband and kids - take my caffeine to the back porch, and spend 15 or 20 minutes working through my day. Having the planner has kept me feeling grounded in a time of uncertainty.
