All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings by Gayle Boss
Open a window each day of Advent onto the natural world with All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings. Here are twenty-five fresh images of the foundational truth that lies beneath and within the Christ story. In twenty-five portraits depicting how wild animals of the northern hemisphere ingeniously adapt when darkness and cold descend, we see and hear as if for the first time the ancient wisdom of Advent: The dark is not an end but the way a new beginning comes.
Short, daily reflections that paint vivid, poetic images of familiar animals, paired with charming original wood-cuts, will engage both children and adults. Anyone who does not want to be caught, again, in the consumer hype of “the holiday season” but rather to be taken up into the eternal truth the natural world reveals will welcome this book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gayle Boss writes in Michigan, where she was born and raised. Her life-long love of animals and her immersion in spiritual texts and practices have melded in poems and essays that explore how relationships with animals specifically, and an attentive presence in the natural world generally, restore us to our deepest selves. The mother of two grown sons, she lives in Grand Rapids with her husband.
PRAISE
"This is the book I gave to my family and friends two Christmases ago in hard copy. It is one of the most beautiful books I have ever seen and so deeply moving with the story each day from December 1 to December 25 about what it takes for different animals to get through the winter cold. This book is something to share with your family or even alone to touch something that is very rare, and so real and heart-rending." —Trina Paulus, author of Hope for the Flowers
“Gayle Boss writes lovingly about animals in their habitats using rich and lyrical language. Children will learn—and be awestruck—as their parents read about creatures they know, and don't know. I'm certain families will make reading this lovely book together a yearly tradition, whether they observe Advent or not. All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings is a beautiful addition to any family library.”—Deborah Heiligman, author of Charles and Emma: The Darwins' Leap of Faith, a National Book Award Finalist
“This book reminds me of what St. Paul tells us in Romans 8:19—All creation waits! In this invigorating view of Advent the contrasts are beautifully presented—between darkness and light, waiting and arrival, sleeping and waking, human and animal creatureliness. The stories and illustrations partake of the kind of reality Christ exemplified in his Advent...How helpful it is to join the animals during their Advent waiting.” —Luci Shaw, Writer in Residence, Regent College, author and poet
“To be awake in the world each winter is to sense loss, to know the weight of waiting. This book’s illustrations and descriptions of the winter habits of 24 animals are gentle lessons in biology—about how lactic acid pools in the bloodstream of a turtle or a porcupine’s gut digests wood. But the animals are also a metaphor for faith, and the final chapter explores the meaning of a God who became incarnate ‘as a child at home among animals’ for the sake of a creation that still waits.” —Christian Century
“All Creation Waits: The Advent Mystery of New Beginnings showcases twenty-five fresh images of the foundational truth that lies beneath and within the Christ story. Anyone who does not want to be caught, again, in the consumer hype of ‘the holiday season’ but rather to be taken up into the eternal truth the natural world reveals will benefit immensely from reading All Creation Waits. An informative and inspiring read from cover to cover, All Creation Waits is especially recommended to all members of the Christian community regardless of denominational affiliation. —Midwest Book Review
“Each of the beautiful creatures in this little book is a unique word of God, its own metaphor, all of them together drawing us to the One we all belong to. Adapting to the dark and cold they announce in twenty-four different ways the Good News of Advent: that through every dark door the creating Love of the universe waits.” —Richard Rohr, OFM
“A wonderfully refreshing sidelong book that makes you stop and think and ponder and consider and contemplate and see not only Advent but your entire blessed life with new eyes. Which seems to me to be the whole point of any generous honest art. Which All Creation Waits most certainly is.” —Brian Doyle, author of Chicago
“This book is a delight to savor and behold. I am someone who believes that the earth is our original monastery, and this worthy guide invites us intimately into the gifts of winter by exploring the rhythms of various birds, bees, and animals during the holy season of Advent. A lovely invitation into the quiet mysteries of darkness.” —Christine Valters Paintner, PhD, author of Illuminating the Way: Embracing the Wisdom of Monks and Mystics

ABOUT THE CREATOR
Muscadine Press is a Christian ministry devoted to equipping and empowering the people of God to cultivate a faithful life. We launched in 2015 as a branch of founder Leslie Ann Jones' writing and teaching ministry. Leslie Ann had been designing custom stationery on the side for quite some time and really enjoyed the work, but she felt the Lord leading her in a new direction: one that combined her love for pretty paper with her passion for the Word of God. So she closed up her stationery shop and set out to design a line of faith-based products designed to help people draw near to the Lord. She started with the Dwell Journal, moved on to art prints, and eventually added a line of stationery. In 2017, she began to feel the Lord leading her to yet another transition: a new name for the LAJ Shop. After months of hard work and navigating all the little details that go into such a big change, we re-launched as Muscadine Press in 2018.

The Great O Antiphons: A Coloring Book for Advent from Pelican Printery House (Digital Download)
Since the early centuries of the church, Christians have sung the “O Antiphons” as part of their evening prayers during final days of Advent. Each antiphon explores one of the biblical titles of Jesus: Emmanuel (God with us), Rex (King of the Nations), Oriens (Morning Star), Clavis (Key of David), Radix (Root of Jesse), Adonai (Lord), and Sapientia (Wisdom). Make the O Antiphons part of your Advent traditions with The Great O Antiphons: A Coloring Book for Advent from Pelican Printery House
Elizabeth Lemme of Pelican House Printery has created a beautiful Advent devotional and coloring book celebrating these ancient names of Jesus. This 18-page Advent coloring book features two pages for each of the antiphons. The first page provides the English translation of the antiphon with scriptural references which can be read, studied, and prayed over. The second page provides the Latin antiphon with an image inspired by traditional iconography. Each image is surrounded with a hand-drawn border of poinsettias, pine cones, greenery, and a ring of Gregorian chant from the actual notated antiphon.
These antiphons are packed with symbolic meaning and beautiful scripture references, all of which are manifested in the images provided in the coloring book:
- "O Sapientia" (O Wisdom), December 17th, icon of Holy Wisdom
- "O Adonai," December 18th, is the icon of Moses and the Burning Bush
- "O Radix Jesse," (Root of Jesse), December 19th, an icon of the Tree of Jesse
- "O Clavis David," (Key of David), December 20th, an icon of the Harrowing of Hell
- "O Oriens," (O Morning Star), December 21st, an icon of Our Lady of the Sign
- "O Rex Gentium" (O King of the Nations), December 22nd, an icon of Christ the King
- "O Emmanuel," December 23rd, a devotional image of the Nativity
At the conclusion of the coloring book, there is a word puzzle game. This ancient acrostic is sure to fascinate youth and adults alike and will enliven this beautiful tradition of the church.
A wonderful activity book for all ages (including adults), the Great O Antiphon Coloring Book is available here as a digital download and can be printed in the ease of your own home, year after year, for personal household use.
All illustrations in this coloring book, including all vine work, ornate capital letters, borders, scrolls, and imagery were original conceived and hand-drawn by the artist at Pelican Printery House using the traditional methods of dip pen and Sumi ink on Bristol Board.
This product is a digital download that will be accessible immediately upon completing checkout.

And It Was Good by Madeleine L'Engle
And It Was Good beautifully approaches both the biblical text and creation itself with an intelligence and sensitivity that appeals to all seekers looking for a fresh communion with God in the natural world as the first book of The Genesis Trilogy.
In the first book of her Genesis Trilogy, beloved author Madeleine L’Engle casts long, loving, and perceptive glances not only at the created universe but also at its Creator. L’Engle often crafted stories that dealt with the complexities of the universe, navigating time and space, religion and science, with uncanny ease and insight. This skill–most famously demonstrated in A Wrinkle in Time–is showcased in this nonfiction work, And It Was Good, through her ability to see the connection between Made and Maker at every level. She examines the vast beauty, order, and complexity of our world with enthusiasm and reverence, illuminating the characteristics of God, the first poet.
Madeleine L’Engle possesses the same ambidextrous skill of storytelling as other literary giants, including C.S. Lewis and George MacDonald. Her fictional stories appeal to generations of readers and are equally embraced by both secular and religious readers. But it is her ability in her nonfiction to engage with the historical text of the Bible through a dynamic unpacking of protagonists, antagonists, and matters of faith that establishes The Genesis Trilogy as a highly treasured collection of spiritual writings.

A Stone for a Pillow by Madeleine L'Engle
A Stone for a Pillow is for the curious, spiritual seeker, where Madeleine L’Engle offers relevant lessons drawn from the life of Jacob from the Old Testament.
In this second book of her Genesis Trilogy, the son of Isaac becomes a spiritual companion to L’Engle, equipping her to deal with earthly and psychological struggles. Throughout her journey, L’Engle offers contemporary answers to questions that burden modern-day readers and believers. With her customary fearlessness and candor, she broaches such topics as the significance of angels, redemption, sexual identity, forgiveness, and the seemingly constant conflict between good and evil.

Sold into Egypt by Madeleine L'Engle
In Sold into Egypt, L’Engle’s third book of her Genesis Trilogy, the author draws on the death of her husband to provide comfort and inspiration to those who suffer grief, loneliness, and doubt.
Is Joseph–the deserted son of Jacob from the Old Testament–relevant in our modern age? For Madeleine L’Engle, the answer is a resounding yes; not solely because Joseph is an important historical character, but primarily because his experiences of disenfranchisement, tragedy, and profound betrayal resonate within our own society. These thoughtful meditations on obedience, prophecy, forgiveness, and compassion are masterfully woven to bridge gaps of belief, politics, education, and even faith.

Her fictional stories appeal to generations of readers and are equally embraced by both secular and religious readers. Warmth for Waiting Cowl Knitting Pattern by Kniturgy (Digital Download)
Simple embodied acts--walking, sipping tea, holding hands--can be forms of prayer. This same is true for the humble art of knitting. Especially during seasons of waiting, having work for our hands can help us focus our attention and settle our spirits. That's why we are so pleased to offer this Warmth for Waiting Cowl Knitting Pattern.
The inspiration for this design comes from the season of Advent - a season of waiting, longing, preparation, and expectation. During Advent we wait with hope and expectation for the coming of Christ. The colors of the cowl fade from dark at the front to bright at the back. Dark purples and blues are the traditional colors of Advent, which signify royalty to welcome the coming King, and this pattern suggests a bright orange to signify hope and light in the midst of our waiting.
May this cowl be a reminder to you that there can be light in the midst of darkness and hope in the midst of seasons of waiting.

ABOUT THE CREATOR
Kniturgy is the work of Hillary Ishii, an Anglican wife, mother, and knitter who explores knitting as liturgy through her original patterns and knitting accessories. What types of shipping services do you offer?
We are thrilled to ship to the US and around the world. We offer Media Mail and Priority Mail via the United States Postal Service and other similar services. All orders are processed in the order they were received. All USPS shipping fees are based on our costs to ship to you and may shift ever-so-slightly from day-to-day, as they update in real time.
First Class International shipping prices range from $25-$40 USD and depend on the destination. International customers may also be charged an additional tariff fee when retrieving their packages from post offices. We are unable to include it in the cost of your item and shipping currently. We understand international shipping is a bit more expensive. We hope to have more international options as our volume increases, but in the meantime placing a group order with your friends will reduce the international cost and give you a group discount!
How quickly will my order ship?
Digital products are automatically sent by email shortly after you place your order. Physical products are shipped from our warehouse in Waco, TX every weekday afternoon. You'll receive an email with tracking information when your order is shipped.
Can I change my shipping address, email or payment info?
Because our orders ship daily, we may not be able to change your information before your order is processed and shipped. For that reason, please verify your shipping address at checkout before submitting your order. If you find an error, contact us as soon as possible and we will try our hardest to make corrections before the order goes out. We try to check email for any shipping-related updates before printing labels.
What is your return policy?
We do our best to describe and depict each product with great care and detail. For that reason we created the FREE Essentials Workbook to give you a closer look at the design of our planner. The Essentials Workbook will help you evaluate if our product is a good fit for you before you spend any money. You can often purchase digital sample months of the planners to try before you buy. Our planner isn't a perfect fit for everyone, though. We haven't set out to be. It's not possible! That said, let us know if you find an issue and we will do our best to make it right.
If your physical product is damaged or defective, or you receive the wrong product, please contact us with your name, order number, and nature of the issue at hello@sacredordinarydays.com and we will address your concern as quickly as possible.
