Welcome to the Book of Common Prayer by Vicki K. Black
Welcome to the Book of Common Prayer shows readers everything from where to find the Sunday collect to how to pray the Daily Office. But it’s more than a how-to. It offers history and background that help make the prayer book a more meaningful part of the worship life of individuals and congregations. With thoughtful reflection questions, this is a perfect volume for parish study groups.
In this guide for newcomers as well as lifelong Episcopalians, author Vicki Black helps readers navigate the currents of Anglican liturgy and discover its richness and beauty. Four Birds of Noah's Ark: A Prayer Book from the Time of Shakespeare by Thomas Dekker
A timeless, little-known literary classic to engage a new generation of readers.
As the Black Death ravaged London in 1608, in the midst of societal chaos and tragedy, playwright Thomas Dekker wrote Four Birds of Noah’s Ark, a book containing fifty-six prayers for the people of London and all of England.
The prayers in this book bear witness to Dekker’s deep faith with a power and poignancy that few written prayers in English literature achieve. Bringing Dekker’s devotional classic back into print for the first time since 1924, editor Robert Hudson has annotated the prayers and modernized their language without sacrificing their enchanting beauty and simplicity. Hudson’s substantive and illuminating introduction is a gem in itself.

An incredibly beautiful book. The gold embossing, the illustrations, the acknowledgement of such ordinary holiness is wonderful! I would say that some liturgies went on a little bit, but I liked that some of them also had shorter versions to choose from. I think I may annoy my friends when I show up with a liturgy for EVERY occasion, but hopefully in the long run they'll thank me 🤪.

PRAISE
"What an awesome prayer book! This book is wonderful for everyone, but especially for those like me who may need a bit of guidance with their daily prayers. It is invaluable for those who are curious about how to start praying daily, as well as those who are dedicated prayer veterans. I loved it so much, I ended up buying several more to give to family and friends."
— Amazon Review
"If you want to start a daily prayer discipline, this lovely little book is an ideal place to begin. Following the ancient Anglican practice of praying "the hours," it offers four very short prayer services--morning, noon, evening and compline—for each day of the week. Reading/praying this daily gives me both a sense of peace and inspiration. It's perfect!"
— Cathryn Conroy
"This little book is a gem. It's small enough to fit in your coat pocket or bag and is quite handsome. It has leather binding, comes with a black satin bookmark, has gold edges and the title and a Celtic cross are stamped on the front cover in gold. What's really gold, though, is that this book offers a short and simple way to pray the daily offices (morning, noon, evening, and compline) in a simple way. If, like me, you have found daily office books like Benedictine Daily Prayer or the Anglican Breviary to be too complex, Hour by Hour is for you. All the readings you need are included. No flipping through the book is required, nor do you need a Bible or other supplemental books. There is also a section of other prayers in the back--seasonal prayers, occasional prayers, and familiar prayers. The offices in this book are brief and for some people they won't be enough. But using this book has given me a daily prayer routine and it has been invaluable. The preface says it all: "Using this book daily will deepen your commitment. It could even change your life. Carry it with you wherever you go. You won't regret it." I completely agree--Hour by Hour is wonderful."
— Elizabeth Moon
"Simplest clearest prayer hours book I have ever used. This little volume is a great pocket size. Nice thick cream paper, with great layout and design. Sewn binding for durability. The leather cover is glossy and firm. It is essentially a leather-bound hardcover, but it is very well done. Highly recommended!"
— Ryan J. Carter T
"The really great feature in is this devotional book is its ability to fill in the gaps between seasons of the church, especially if you are using another form of the liturgy of the hours that may not have the days between Christmas and the beginning of Lent, for example. It is well written and has additional prayers. I recommend it for clergy or anyone wanting to deepen their devotional life."
— Pastor Ron Nelson

PRAISE
"This is a must-have prayer book. It is the perfect companion, easy to carry, travels well, and has such wonderful prayers and wisdom for daily life. I think if you have one prayer book only, this is the one to have. It is beautiful, leather-bound, gold cross accompanies a Book of Common Prayer or Missal well. The preparation prayers of holy eucharist are really good so it is always with me at service too. I glad I bought it and I think it will also make a great gift."
— Rob Nelson
"I love my copy of the St. Augustine's Prayer Book. It was a gift, and I will always treasure it. Clean lines, easy to read print, a beautiful style, and profound devotions. Even the box it came in, marked with a cross, says there is something special inside. And there is."
— The Rev. Lindsay Hardin Freeman
"To this beautiful volume which introduced many to Marian devotion, and which gave expression to a more personal devotion not necessarily found in the BCP, new material e.g. Stations of the Resurrection has been added. The Litany of the Saints is updated to include holy figures from Hebrew Scriptures, the saints of Jesus one might call them, namely Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; Moses, Miriam, and Aaron; Ruth and Naomi. Saints also included are Ignatius of Antioch, Polycarp, Alban. Perpetua and Felicity. Beloved Anglican Saints now includes the pairs: Richard Hooker and Lancelot Andrewes, Nicholas Ferrar and George Herbert, John Keble and Edward Pusey. The updated "Litany of Intercessions in the Night" puts more responsibility on us and is less judgmental. This newly revised edition represents a devotional treasure."
— Dr. Deirdre Good, Academic Dean & Professor of New Testament, General Theological Seminary
"A wonderful, thoughtful revision. Thank you Fr. Cobb & Derek for your work on this instructive new edition that is sure to become the favorite of a new generation."

Sounding the Seasons: Seventy Sonnets for the Christian Year by Malcolm Guite
Poetry has always been a central element of Christian spirituality and is increasingly used in worship, pastoral services, and guided meditation. In Sounding the Seasons, Cambridge poet, priest, and singer-songwriter Malcolm Guite transforms seventy lectionary readings into lucid, inspiring poems for use in regular worship, seasonal services, meditative reading, or on retreat.
Already widely recognized, Guite's writing has been acclaimed by Rowan Williams-- former Archbishop of Canterbury--and Luci Shaw, a leading religious poets. Seven Advent poems from this collection will appear in the next edition of Penguin's (US) Best Spiritual Writing edited by Philip Zaleski, alongside the work of writers such as Seamus Heaney and Annie Dillard.
A section of practical help and advice for using poetry creatively and effectively in worship is also included.
Hardback: 108 pages
Dimensions: 5.51 x 0.31 x 8.5 inches
Shipping Weight: 9.2 ounces
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Malcolm Guite is a poet-priest and Chaplain of Girton College Cambridge, but often travels around Great Britain and North America to give lectures, concerts, and poetry readings. He has authored several books as well as contributed poetry and essays to several collections. You can learn more about Guite (such as his Canterbury rock band) at his website https://malcolmguite.wordpress.com/.
PRAISE
"Malcolm's sonnets are powerful in the extreme." -Jan Payne, Church Times
"Malcolm Guite knows exactly how to use the sonnet form to powerful effect. These pieces have the economy and pungency of all good sonnets, and again and again, offer deep resources for prayer and meditation to the reader. In his own words, ‘brevity, clarity, concentration and a capacity for paradox’ are typical of the best sonnet sequences, and all those qualities are to be found here." -Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury
"Each of Malcolm Guite’s sonnets is like a Celtic knot, with threads of devotion and theology cunningly woven into shining emblems of truth and beauty. Whether spoken aloud or read silently, these poems speak to mind and soul." -Luci Shaw, poet and author of Harvesting Fog and Breath for the Bones: Art, Imagination and Spirit
"The sonnets are made to be read out loud to help us experience the sacred year in a renewed way. His aim is to be appropriate, up-to-date and focused. His poetry is deeply informed by knowledge of the Christian faith; and he brings his skill with the sonnet to communicate this knowledge with gentleness, accuracy and flashes of fire." -Sebastian Barker FRSL, poet and author of The Erotics of God and many other volumes of poetry
"Malcolm Guite’s poetic sequence is fresh and wholly contemporary, yet richly rooted in tradition. Using the sonnet form with absolute naturalness as he traces the year and its festivals, he offers the reader – whether Christian or not – profound and beautiful utterance which is patterned but also refreshingly spontaneous. Sounding the Seasons is an important poetic event, and one that invites readers to share both celebration and soul-searching." -Grevel Lindop, poet and literary critic

Lent + Easter Artwork for Churches and Ministries by Sacred Ordinary Days
These rich, symbolic images representing the liturgical seasons and holy days of Lent and Easter are meant for use by churches and ministries.
Beautifully designed and meticulously researched, these images are inspired by early Christian art and architecture such as mosaics, stained glass, icons, and other sacred works. We created this series of images to help your congregation , community, or group engage with the practice of visio divina throughout Lent and Eastertide, accepting the invitation to prayer through imagery.
Visio divina is a prayerful practice of sacred, or divine, seeing. It's similar to lectio divina but involves engaging with an image rather than a text. In visio divina we invite our hearts and imaginations to enter into a sacred image, in silence, to see what God might have to say to us.
- Print and digital files for 10 different seasons/holy days: Lent, Ash Wednesday, Annunciation of the Lord, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter, Ascension of the Lord, and Pentecost
- Choose all color + black and white image files or black and white image files only.
Your purchase includes 10 artwork files suitable for use in both print (worship guides, bulletins) and digital (emails, social media, projection) applications. Use the files for any non-ticketed live events, such as worship services, liturgies, special events, or installations. Put them in emails and newsletters. Post them on websites or social media.
Please do not use the files for any commercial purpose. For example, please do not redistribute and/or sell the files, or use them to create any product to distribute or sell, printed or digital. Please do not alter the files in any way.
Please do not share the files with other churches or ministries. For multi-site churches or ministries with multiple campuses: your purchase covers a single site license, meaning each purchase is site-specific & covers one single campus. Each additional site/campus will need to purchase content separately.
Sacred Ordinary Days retains the rights to all files on this site. Your purchase simply conveys the license agreement that grants permission to use the files. Attribution is preferred and always appreciated, but not required. For example, you might include “Artwork by Sacred Ordinary Days. I just printed this and sat down with my youngest to explore and color. In such a short amount of time, it has explained a timeline of celebration and given us the time to talk about how Jesus's ministry was three years, that a lot happened in those years, and more. I highly recommend it. Also, coloring is always good for every mind and developmental age for dexterity and fine-motor skills.
Psalms for Young Children by Marie-Hélène Delval
The Psalms express feelings familiar to children: fear and uncertainty, comfort and contentment, amazement and gratitude. This collection of Psalms for Young Children, paraphrased for young readers, uses simple yet powerful imagery to help children express their feelings, celebrate the beautiful world protected by God's all-encompassing love, and provide a sense of reassurance.
Psalm 23 reads, "God is my shepherd./He leads me in the right/direction. And even if I have to/walk in a dark place,/I am not scared./I know nothing will hurt me/if I walk with God!" Organized in numerical order, the selections are printed in a large, readable font. The book ends on a joyous note with Psalm 150, "Hallelujah!"
On each spread, the verse faces a full-page illustration. The magical paintings feature exotic settings, bold outlines, and rich hues. They are filled with images of children and the natural world. The final psalm is accompanied by a picture of three children dancing and playing musical instruments under a golden sky, which adeptly mirrors the celebratory tone of the collection.

ABOUT THE CREATOR
Muscadine Press is a Christian ministry devoted to equipping and empowering the people of God to cultivate a faithful life. We launched in 2015 as a branch of founder Leslie Ann Jones' writing and teaching ministry. Leslie Ann had been designing custom stationery on the side for quite some time and really enjoyed the work, but she felt the Lord leading her in a new direction: one that combined her love for pretty paper with her passion for the Word of God. So she closed up her stationery shop and set out to design a line of faith-based products designed to help people draw near to the Lord. She started with the Dwell Journal, moved on to art prints, and eventually added a line of stationery. In 2017, she began to feel the Lord leading her to yet another transition: a new name for the LAJ Shop. After months of hard work and navigating all the little details that go into such a big change, we re-launched as Muscadine Press in 2018.

In the Sanctuary of Women: A Companion for Reflection & Prayer by Jan Richardson
In this sequel to the groundbreaking Sacred Journeys, In the Sanctuary of Women invites us to cross into a sacred space with women from around the world and across the centuries. Jan believes it is essential for women to listen to one another and to bring the fullness of their lives, with all their wonders and messiness, into their prayer lives.
This book, Richardson writes, is an invitation to enter into a conversation. Here amongst these pages, in the presence of women past and present, is a place to enter into the mysteries that lie at the heart of who we are. Drawing from the often-hidden wellsprings of women's wisdom in Jewish and Christian traditions, In the Sanctuary of Women gathers together women from scripture and history whose lives invite us to move more deeply into our own: Eve, St. Brigid of Kildare, the Desert Mothers, Hildegard of Bingen, Harriet Powers, and the woman of the Song of Songs. Each chapter becomes its own sanctuary, gracing and engaging the reader with the reflections, stories, poetry, prayers, and blessings that Richardson offers. An invitation into reflection and prayer alone or in the company of others, In the Sanctuary of Women is a book to treasure and to share with the women and the men in your life.

PRAISE
"If a book can indeed shelter the soul awhile and hold it close in beauty and peace, nurture and devotion, then this book most certainly does. It is, just as its title says, a sanctuary, a wayside station of prayer, and a site of worship for those blessed enough to enter here."
— Phyllis Tickle, Compiler, The Words of Jesus A Gospel of the Sayings of Our Lord
"This refreshing resource widens the mind, deepens the heart, and strengthens the soul of spirituality. Richardson skillfully takes us to the edge and then brings us back to the core of spirituality. This book contains marvelous treasure."
— Joyce Rupp, Author of numerous best-selling books, including Open the Door: A Journey to the True Self
"To enter the Sanctuary of Women with Jan Richardson is to risk deep transformation, proof that this book is a God-gift. It journeys into the daunting spiritual landscapes traversed by those brave enough to wrestle with God's heart at close quarters. These womanly wisdoms are richly varied in their topography, but in each whether scripture's surprising Eve or Celtic Brigid or a Desert Mother or an emancipating Sojourner Truth or Jan herself is a wellspring of reflection and prayer dug very deep."
— Peter Storey, Former bishop, Methodist Church of Southern Africa

Jan Richardson is one of the wonderful voices of calm and reason amongst the chaos. I picked up nearly everything of hers during the pandemic and have found that her prayers, even in times where I am flustered bring a sense of calm.
This book is particularly beautiful in its printing and communicates a great sense of depth in understanding who God is through words and art.
