Kindred Tea Time: Favorite Fall Recipes

What is your favorite fall recipe?

@joybileefarm Hawthorn Cordial

This recipe takes a few weeks of patience, but it is worth the wait. Heart-healthy hawthorn berries soak in brandy for a month, and the result is a sweet dessert cordial that warms body and soul alike. One day I hope to plant hawthorns of my own, but in the meantime, I get my dried hawthorn berries from @mountainroseherbs.

@simplyrecipes Pear Pie with Ginger and Maple Syrup

For fall feasts, I love to make this pear pie with ginger and maple syrup. Pears are abundant in Texas this time of year, and the maple syrup takes me back to my Midwestern childhood.

@brimckoy Pumpkin Chili

I’m not a pumpkin spice latte girl (too sweet and too much caffeine for me) but I’m a fan of pumpkin everything else for fall, and my Texas-missing heart craves a big hearty bowl of chili whenever the weather turns...well, chilly. This recipe combines both, comes together easily, and tastes just like a fall dinner should taste—warm, rich, and comforting. Top with sour cream, green onion, red peppers, and salsa and serve with well-buttered cornbread.

@traderjoes Pumpkin Ravioli with @bonappetitmag Brown Butter and Sage Sauce

This feels like cheating, since the ravioli is made by Trader Joe’s and not by me, but that's what keeps this meal easy enough for a weeknight dinner. This homemade sauce is simple, but also rich and decadent—fancy enough for a special occasion. (Hint: I use whiskey in place of apple cider vinegar and add a little heavy cream if I’m hankering for a really indulgent dish.)

@halfbakedharvest Roasted Butternut Squash Prosciutto Pizza with Caramelized Onions

I’m a huge fan of Half Baked Harvest’s approach to cooking, and nobody does fall recipes like Tieghan!  I love pizza, and the savory butternut squash and prosciutto paired with the sweetness of the carmelized onions is the perfect combination that feels like October in a bite.

@halfbakedharvest Cinnamon Swirl Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Butter Bread

Another HBH gem, this is a delightful sweet fall treat, and the swirl of cinnamon sugar throughout is really a delight. Tieghan describes it as a snickerdoodle pumpkin bread.

@gimmesomeoven Creamy Tortellini Soup With Italian Sausage

This bowl full of soup with its velvety creamy broth, spicy sausage, tons of greens, and melt-in-your-mouth cheesy tortellini is bound to be a hit!

@orangette Gâteau Au Chocolat Fondant De Nathalie

Also called Kate’s Winning-Hearts-And-Minds Cake, she suggests considering making it the day before, as it becomes more delicious on the second day. Serve in wedges at room temperature with a loose dollop of ever-so-slightly sweetened whipped cream.

@taste_team Roasted Sweet Potato, Wilted Garlic Kale, Poached egg and Almonds

This is a fave breakfast!

@bonappetitmag Pumpkin Shrimp Curry

For our family, fall signals the start of consuming all things curry without breaking (as much of) a sweat while indulging our cravings for spicy heat. This recipe is a delightful marriage of curry and pumpkin - a fall celebration for the tastebuds. I like to throw in some peas and sometimes replace the choice of protein as desired with chicken, beef, pork, or tofu.

@gygi Pumpkin Chocolate Tart

Rumor has it that this dessert at our grad college’s Thanksgiving potluck won me a date with my now-husband.

@whatsgabycookin Chicken Parm Meatballs

When fall hits, I’m all about comfort food, all the time. These chicken parm meatballs have that down home warmth with a modern twist. If you’re a fan of italian cuisine and are always trying to please non-pasta lovers in your household - this recipe is a warm and pleasing compromise!

@bonappetitmag Cinnamon-date Sticky Buns

Our fam has a Saturday Morning cinnamon roll tradition in the fall. Football + pastries, who could want more?! These cinnamon date sticky buns are my absolute favorite and have just the right amount of date filling to make it feel like autumn.
