Kindred Tea Time: Support Local

If we could sit down with you over a cup of tea (or coffee) each week, these are the tools and treasures we’d be excited to share with you. We’ll ask a question, share our answers, then invite you to join and share your own tools and treasures on a teatime break.

What are some of your favorite small and local businesses that you're supporting by shopping and sharing during this time?

App

"I just extended my subscription to the Plan to Eat app for another year. This app lets me import recipes from any URL, add them to my meal calendar, and generate a categorized, alphabetized grocery list based on my plan. And annual subscriptions are 30% off through the end of March!"

Sending a care packing through a retailer like...

"Because I'm a southern girl who uses food to say I love you, I'm sending packages through my mom's online shop, Cherry on Top, to people who need a little extra comfort or who I wish I could celebrate in person. Her cinnamon walnut Granny's Coffee Cake is my personal favorite."

Local Popsicles

"With the kids at home, we are also trying to cultivate a rhythm of work and rest/rewards with them. We often stock popsicles made with natural ingredients from the store as one reward. This time around I am getting authentic Mexican paletas from Helados La Azteca which look as amazing as they taste!"

Online Shopping

"I ordered 2 t-shirts I have been eyeing from Milk and Honey Tees!"

Pre-pay for a Service

"I prepaid for my next haircut with my stylist by sending her money (plus a generous tip) on Venmo."

Supporting Canceled Events

"One of the COVID-19 impacts on our local community was the cancellation of "Spring at the Silos." I've been trying to order gifts ahead of time from some of the small businesses that were devastated by having such a major market canceled."
